Abstract: : The aim of this article is to present a practical project which took place in 2022/2023 at
the Foreign Language High School “Petar Bogdan” in Montana, Bulgaria, whose objective is to
encourage German language students in the 10th grade to read more independently and according to
their own interests authentic texts on current topics from Austria, Germany and Switzerland, and
present and discuss them in class. The project “News Studio” follows the DACH principle for the
fundamental recognition of the diversity of the German speaking area and the reference to more
than one country of the target language in the context of teaching German as a foreign or second
language. As a result, the assigned tasks significantly increase the students’ activity in the German
classes and enrich their basic knowledge about the culture, history, politics and social life of the
German speaking countries.
